An experienced ethics and compliance leader in both the public and private sectors, Tom focuses on increasing the effectiveness of compliance programs by helping ethics and compliance officers develop ethically-driven cultures that support compliance, communicate the connection between culture change and metrics, and establish metrics that more accurately measure the health of organizational culture.
Tom works with compliance officers to increase their ability to assert the importance of compliance, strengthen their capacity to relate and communicate across the organization to build alignment around ethics, and build reputations for character that set an ethical tone at the top.
Prior to joining KRW, Tom spent nearly thirty years working in legal and compliance roles in the healthcare and medical technology industries. Most recently, Tom served as the director of Medtronic’s Global Privacy Program, where he developed and led cross-functional global teams in data privacy and security compliance.
As a former compliance officer, Tom now brings his unique expertise and understanding to leaders by helping them move beyond conduct and compliance into organizational culture shift and surpass their E&C agendas. In his work as a coach, Tom focuses on helping leaders develop character habits and create behaviors that support ethical cultures. By understanding everyday behavior practices, leaders learn how to embody the ethical culture that organizations aspire to have.
