Andrew McHugh’s work focuses on various frameworks for understanding, navigating, and taking charge of change. His experience in both team and leadership effectiveness has spanned broad functional areas—branding, sales, engineering, human resources, operations, data insights and reporting, client management, program management—across various types of organizations. From government agencies to private equity firms, nonprofits, startups, financial services firms, and Fortune 500 companies, Andrew has enabled his coaching and consulting clients to achieve new levels of both leadership and team effectiveness.

Andrew believes in a curious, client-centered approach that helps people gain new awareness of their circumstances’ root causes. By taking a strategic step back to gain new perspectives, Andrew helps his clients create more effective behaviors, on their terms.

Experience

Prior to becoming an independent consultant and leadership coach, Andrew spent eleven years at Google, where he began his career on the original Google Glass team in California. He then transitioned to leading partnerships at Google with top-tier universities across North America, before finally moving into the B2B Large Customer Sales organization. During his time at Google, Andrew created and led leadership and team development programs, meeting with leaders in Engineering, Sales, HR, and other product areas to help them more effectively meet their business goals.

Andrew has conducted extensive academic research into individual human behavior, group behavior, and organizational best practices; he has used this research to develop proprietary frameworks, content, and methodologies.

Andrew grew up on Martha’s Vineyard, was a captain on the Tufts University Men’s Tennis team, and currently lives in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
